Professor John Edwards appointed to the Board of the STBA

Edwards Hart welcomes the appointment of our Director Professor John Edwards to the Board of the Sustainable Traditional Buildings Alliance (STBA) earlier this week. This reacquaints Professor Edwards with the STBA. Whilst working for English Heritage (now Historic England), he had a responsibility for standards, quality and training, which involved the management of a sector skills agreement with the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB). Working closely with Seamus Hanna of CITB, Professor Edwards came up with the idea of an alliance between the heritage sector and mainstream. Following a meeting with the late Neil May, the road towards the establishment of the STBA began. It was launched at Somerset House in November 2011, with Professor Edwards as one of the keynote speakers.

Commenting on his appointment Professor Edwards said: “I welcome the opportunity in supporting the great work that the STBA undertakes and thankful to the IHBC for putting me forward, as its Technical Panel Chair”. Professor Edwards added: “I also look forward to working with STBA Director Michael Netter and other Board members”.

Professor Edwards Joined Edwards Hart in 2014 but has been retrofitting buildings since the 1980’s involving building fabric and building services and this has included Grade 1 Listed buildings.
