With the aim of getting sustainable and traditional skills into mainstream craft apprenticeship training, CITB Cymru have appointed the NPTC Group, with Edwards Hart to develop and conduct a pilot. This is centred on three live sites around Wales – in the South West, South East and the North. Based upon a range of National Occupational Standards, Edwards Hart are developing training from site activities, employing craft trainers and ensuring the required outcomes to appropriate standards are achieved. Edwards Hart Director John Edwards said: “We need to end the mismatch between what we train apprentices to do and what they need and this pilot aims to do that by showing how we can build in skills necessary to properly work on existing buildings”. Edwards added: “Training apprentices in new construction only doesn’t make sense, especially in Wales where a third of our building stock is traditionally built and this requires particular knowledge and skill sets”.
Edwards Hart is involved in developing and delivering a broad range of training. Visit our training page to find out more.
