Green Retrofit is the theme of the recently published journal Context and its Guest Editor is Edwards Hart Director Professor John Edwards. This edition has articles from a range of organisations including BRE, Carbon Trust, SPAB, National Trust, Heritage House, Historic Environment Scotland and ICOMOS. The subject is introduced by John Edwards with an article on the retrofit process which illustrates that retrofit should not be the starting point and that making existing building fabric more energy efficient without retrofit should come first. John Edwards said: “This does not contain glossy features on wonderful to look at retrofit, but concentrates on the most important issues that hopefully readers find interesting and useful”. John added: “I am sure that all the authors like me wanted to quash some of the ill-informed approaches to retrofit being adopted by many and also being promoted by government and John Preston’s article on the Every Home Counts report is particularly pertinent here”.

This edition of Context is also available on line and the Environment Study Centre are offering FREE 2 day courses with a qualification on the same subject.
