Taking an expert approach to buildings is what Edwards Hart are known for and is what is promoted in the article authored by Constructing Excellence Wales (see image) which appeared in the Business section of the Western Mail on the 25th May. The focus was on the need to treat older buildings, which make up over a third of the buildings in Wales and a quarter of the UK building stock in the most appropriate way and not as modern buildings, which nearly all of them are. The article calls for a change and highlights the courses developed by Edwards Hart and CITB’s National Construction College aimed at creating that change. It also highlights some of the excellent work by BRE Wales Director Colin King and the latest British Standard on the understanding and treatment of traditional buildings, BS 7913: 2013 of which Edwards Hart Director John Edwards is the lead author.

Edwards Hart takes the right approach ranging from the initial analysis of buildings to the management of projects. This was emphasised by John Edwards speaking at the Institute of Clerk of Works national conference on the 21st May. As John Edwards commented: “It’s about a whole strategy and of course the analysis of buildings has to be right followed by the right specification, but you also need the right contractor and good project management and supervision”. John added: “This is what we do and it’s all covered in BS 7913: 2013 which we follow”.
