A poll conducted last week at the CIOB Academy building conservation webinar revealed that 39% said that they undertook significance analysis and only 10% said that they undertook heritage impact assessments. The one-hour long webinar which is now available to watch introduced building conservation and its main components and the new CIOB Building Conservation Certification Scheme. The webinar was presented by Edwards Hart Director Professor John Edwards who said: “Understanding significance is essential and somebody has to do it and heritage impact assessments are an essential tool to make sure that significance is managed”. Edwards added: “Carrying out work in accordance with BS 7913: 2013 means that you have to do these things and everyone attending the 2-day CIOB building conservation course gets the chance to do practical exercises on on significance analysis and heritage impact assessments”.
